...at least, where the stitch is concerned...have a look...
The top 'side' is actually a lot more yellow than that, but because Lutradur XL is semi transparent, and the piece is back lit, the pink from the other side is showing through...and vice versa. I did contemplate noodling a line across the whole piece, with the occasional leaf on it, but decided against it. I like the feeling of space in this work. I am, though, contemplating adding some text...'dreaming the crimson daisy', which is the title of the book.
Have another look at an individual daisy.
The stitch is fairly even, but it's by no means perfect. It's the stitch equivalent of colouring outwith the lines; I wanted a relaxed, modern feel, and I also wanted to even out the relative sizes of the petals, hence the stitch. I usually vary stitch length too, for visual interest, but decided that it would be a distraction rather than an enhancement. What I'm trying to say here, I suppose, is that I wouldn't win any awards for stitch with this piece, but that doesn't make it any less beautiful. It works, and that's what's important. So many of us worry about work not being perfect...well, guess what? Perfect, by and large, is boring. And it's really not necessary to enjoy either making or appreciating a piece of art. Mother Nature doesn't make each petal of an individual flower the same; she doesn't like boring, either. That's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it.

Snow...
a white blanket of it, at 6am, gone by 11am, back with a vengeance around 3pm and now gone again, the sun shining brightly as if it had been doing so all day. Lets hope it doesn't snow tomorrow; I need to go into Norwich, and I don't need to skid all over the place whilst doing so.
The picture is suitably subdued for snowladen skies... an aceo from hand dyed lutradur and vintage mother of pearl buttons. Fortunately, the daffodils seem frost proof!
I've had an upset tummy for a couple of days, which has kept me from working on the large piece I started quilting on Friday, but hopefully that is clearing up, and I'll be able to get going on it again on Tuesday. No use planning anything for tomorrow; reiki usually means a sleep in the afternoon, but energy later in the week. Here's hoping...

3D Felt...
is fun too. These wee things were also made at the workshop on Sunday, using a single needle. It took surprisingly little time to make them, maybe just over an hour for all three. I was...surprised.
The first piece is a flower, a daisy, I think. The second started out as a nest, and just asks for a couple of chocolate eggs to be added. The third is ACEO sized, and is called Snow Blind; you can just see the colours in the white, I think, reminiscent of shadows. I'm thinking about making some more flowers, it's such a cheery thing! Fun for brooches, or to be added to quilts, I think. Ditto with the aceos.
